· The Adam Smith Page: This is a website dedicated to the study of Adam Smith and, more specifically, to economic principles.
· Adam Smith: The Wealth Of Nations: Online access to the full text of Adam Smiths, "The Wealth of Nations".
· Bank For International Settlements: "The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international organisation which fosters international monetary and financial cooperation and serves as a bank for central banks."
· Bank of Japan: The online home of the Bank of Japan. National banks are often an excellent source for country data. Most countries have an English version of their national bank website. Be sure to shop for official government web URL's when exploring other countries. An example is the .gov domain used in the U.S.A.
· Berkeley Law and Economic Working Papers archive: Online source of full text working papers published by the Berkely Law and Economics Program.
· A Brief History of Deposit Insurance (from the FDIC in PDF format): This is a 76 page .pdf document prepared by the FDIC for the 1998 International Conference on Deposit Insurance which was held in Washington D.C. Conference proceedings can be very useful in a variety of disciplines. Many times such documents are held at the library or are available electronically from a number of databases and websites. The University of Pennsylvania's Van Pelt Library has a comprehensive listing of many potentially useful sources.
· Business Ethics Quarterly (Fulltext Journal)**: "Business Ethics Quarterly publishes scholarly articles from a variety of disciplinary orientations that focus on the general subject of the application of ethics to the international business community."
· Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy: "the purpose of this site is to promote better understanding of globalization, world trade, and economic development, including the forces, values, events, and ideas that have shaped the present global economic system."
· Center For The Study of African Economies: "The Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE) has been undertaking research on Africa for more than a decade, and has become one of the largest concentrations of academic economists and social scientists working on Africa outside the continent itself."
· Center for the Study of Public Policy: "The CSPP specializes in comparative research. In the 1980s it conducted major comparative studies of the growth of government, concerning taxation and expenditure, organizational change, and laws. · EconLit (OCLC)**: A subscription database with a focus on matters relevant to economics research.
· Economagic: "This page is meant to be a comprehensive site of free, easily available economic time series data useful for economic research, in particular economic forecasting. This site (set of web pages) was started in 1996 to help students in an Applied Forecasting class. The idea was to give students easy access to large amounts of data, and to be able to quickly get charts of that data. This is also useful during class, so that when we use the computer and overhead projector facility in class, we can quickly retrieve series and do manipulations in class."
· Economic Census: 1992, 1997, 2002: Every five years the U.S. Census Bureau conducts an economic census.
· Economic History Services: "EH.Net operates the Economic History Services web site and several electronic mailing lists to provide resources and promote communication among scholars in economic history and related fields. EH.Net is supported by the Economic History Association and other affiliated organizations: the Business History Conference, the Cliometric Society, the Economic History Society, and the History of Economics Society."

· Famine Early Warning Systems (FEWS Net): Reports on potential emergency food shortages in the developing world.
· FDIC Historical Statistics On Banking: The Historical Statistics on Banking (HSOB) provides annual statistical information on the banking industry beginning in 1934. These data can be used to identify and analyze long-term trends and to develop benchmarks to evaluate the current condition of the banking and thrift industries.
The HSOB contains aggregated data from individual financial reports filed by FDIC-insured commercial banks and savings institutions. These aggregated data are also available for individual states, U.S. territories and U.S. possessions.
· Federal Reserve Board: Beige Book: "Commonly known as the Beige Book, this report is published eight times per year. Each Federal Reserve Bank gathers anecdotal information on current economic conditions in its District through reports from Bank and Branch directors and interviews with key business contacts, economists, market experts, and other sources. The Beige Book summarizes this information by District and sector. An overall summary of the twelve district reports is prepared by a designated Federal Reserve Bank on a rotating basis."

· Federal Reserve Board: Testimony: An online archive of testimony made by Federal Reserve Officials.

· JSTOR **: Full text cover-to-cover access to complete print runs of scholarly journals. A number of Economic journals are included. JSTOR contains only older volumes; a "moving wall" of 3 to 5 years seperates JSTOR coverage from current issues. JSTOR will contain the complete runs of a minimum of 100 important journal titles in 10 - 15 disciplines by the end of 1999.
JSTOR articles can be located by searching other article databases, such as Business Source Premier or ABI/Inform Proquest, and using the FIND IT link when full text is not available.

· Payment Systems Research Bibliography: This is a +200 page report of citations including conference proceedings, articles, book chapters, and other cited sources of information regarding payment systems research.
