Equipment Check-Out, Loan Periods and Viewing Rooms
Media equipment used for instructional and research purposes is available for check-out to Villanova faculty and staff. Included are camcorders, VCRs, televisions, projectors (data/video, overhead transparency, slide, etc.), audio cassette recorders, as well as other equipment. Equipment checked out from MT/CD should be for instructional or research purposes. The average loan period is 3 days; however, we may have some flexibility depending upon the type of equipment and demand. Advance reservations are highly recommended to ensure availability. Please note that faculty and staff (or their departments) are fiscally responsible for theft, loss or damage of borrowed equipment, which includes equipment borrowed by students who are authorized by faculty or staff. MT/CD has equipped all Registrar scheduled classrooms with permanently installed media equipment. Approximately 75% have multimedia systems with data/video projectors, VCRs, laptop connections for PowerPoint presentations and other computer programs, network access, and large screen video playback, as well as overhead transparency projectors. Approximately 25% of the rooms have TV/VCR setups and overhead transparency projectors. Faculty who frequently require multimedia capabilities in their classroom should communicate those needs directly to the University Registrar to secure appropriately equipped classrooms. MT/CD has two multimedia equipped classrooms designated for faculty who only occasionally require large screen multimedia capabilities. These rooms are very popular and should be booked as far in advance as possible. Please note that the Viewing Rooms can not be scheduled for an entire semester. General Media Services hours of operation during the fall and spring semester is Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. – 10 pm; Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. For information on hours during holidays, summer sessions, or during any days for which classes are not scheduled, please call 9-4467. Note: All media collections, as well as viewing carrels, are located on the first floor of Falvey Library. For further information regarding borrowing or viewing materials, please call 9-4271. |
