How Do I: Find a Book in Our Library

Use Falvey's online catalog, VUCat, to find books, journal titles and other materials such as videos and course reserves. Only items owned by the library are included in the catalog. Do not use the catalog to search for articles in journals or newspapers.

VUCat is accessible from the library's homepage. The catalog defaults to the basic search mode. Once you located an item in VUCat, you can find out from the record:

  • where the item is located (call numbers indicate location)
  • whether the item is on the shelf (interpreted as not charged
  • which years of a journal / newspaper the library owns

See search tips below or use the Help Guide to VUCat

Locate Books in the our library's main stacks using Library of Congress call numbers.

Search

  • Searching Tips
  • Audiobooks:
A keywork search for VUaudio will retrieve all the audiobooks owned by the library.
A keyword search for LSVAudio retrieves the audiobooks that are available in the library on a temporary basis.
