  • Business Source Premier (EBSCO) *
    Business Source Premier, designed specifically for business schools and libraries, provides more than 3,600 full-text scholarly publications, including more than 1,050 peer-reviewed journals with titles such as the Harvard Business Review and the OECD Economic Surveys. More than 200 of the journals have PDF full text back to 1965 or the first issue published. In addition to the full text, this database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 4,400 journals. This database offers information in nearly every area of business including management, economics, finance, accounting, international business. Another segment of this database provides domestic and international company reports (including detailed SWOT reports), a business citation search, and an image database
  • ABI / Inform(ProQuest Direct) * [1985- Updated monthly]
    Provides abstracts, full-text, and/or full-text with images of records of articles taken from over 1,000 business journals. Also features 27 national newspapers.
  • Expanded Academic Index * [1980-]
    Features citations, abstracts and/or full-text for articles from more than 2500 scholarly and general interest publications. Covered subject areas include current events, the arts, history, literature, psychology, political science, sociology, communications, engineering, health and medicine, and the general sciences.
  • Market Insight (Standard & Poor's) *
    Provides full-text access to the S&P Industry Surveys, the Executive Compensation database, Global Reports Library which contains full-color, online, international company source documents including annual reports, annual report summaries, financials, interims, and IPO prospectuses for 13,000 companies around the world, and the GICS Sub-Industry Financial Highlights Report which provides recent industry-level valuation, profitability, performance and financial risk data.

    Provides marketing reports for many industries and demographic reports on a variety of age groups. Documents are formatted as Adobe Acrobat or PowerPoint files. Requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.
  • Oxford Reference Online *
    Features 100 well-known and trusted dictionaries and reference books, plus an encyclopedia, and provides a single cross-searchable web database. Covers a broad range of subjects including general reference, language, humanities and social sciences, science and medicine, and business.
  • PsycARTICLES* [1985- ]
    TO SEARCH ONLY PsycARTICLES PLEASE CHECK OFF BOX NEXT TO DATABASE NAME. Access from the American Psychological Association database 58 top full-text psychology publications covering the disciplines of human physiology, personality psychology, social psychology, educational psychology and more. 
  • Value Line Investment Survey
    Designed to help investors analyze and select stocks by performing a broad range of functions including sorting, filtering (screening), graphing and reporting on individual stocks and groups of stocks.

  • Britannica Online *
    Consists of articles from the print Encyclopaedia Britannica, plus hundreds of additional articles not found in the print version. Also features the Britannica Book of the Year (1995-) and the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary.
  • Bloomberg Professional * (Only available to Villanova students, faculty, and non-administrative staff) Bloomberg Professional assists users in finding a wide variety of financial information, provides in-depth financial data and gives students the ability to perform in-depth analysis such as correlation analysis, theoretical pricing models, and potential arbitrage pricing discrepancies on various financial products. Bloomberg facilitates the monitoring global financial market data and news and provides current and historical financial statement data. Detailed information on risk analysis and financial solvency can also be found for most securities.  

    Note: The Bloomberg workstations are funded by Falvey Memorial Library, but housed in the Applied Finance Lab in Bartley Hall. To schedule a Bloomberg session contact the Applied Finance Lab Coordinator, James Jablonski at 610-519-5857 or visit to lab to check their hours of operation.

  • Business Insight *
    This database contains full-text reports on a variety of industries. Coverage includes both United States and international coverage with special emphasis on European business. The reports are available in both HTML and pdf formats.
  • Business And Management Practices *[1995- Updated Weekly]
    Focuses on the practical aspects and approaches of business management, covering over 300 core management journals and trade publications.
  • Business Organizations *
    Directory of new and established organizations, agencies and publications worldwide.
  • Cabell’s Directories of Publishing Opportunities*  
    Click on Member Area button. Provides the publishing guidelines of journals in the following areas: accounting, management, marketing, educational curriculum and methods, educational psychology and administration, and psychology. Includes address for submission, review information ( such as type of review, acceptance rate) and type of articles (current issues, literature reviews, etc.)

  • Congressional (Lexis-Nexis) *
    Provides access to every facet of U.S. Legislative activity: hearings transcripts and submitted testimony, committee reports, bills, public laws, congressional member public interest group ratings, selected committee prints, congressional documents, the Congressional Record, the Federal Register, the Code of Federal Regulations, and the U.S. Code.
  • Dissertation Abstracts Online * [Indexing, 1861- ; Abstracting, 1980- Updated monthly]
    Contains the complete range of academic subjects appearing in dissertations accepted at accredited institutions.
  • EconLibrary *
    This database provides over 300,000 bibliographic references from 500 leading journals of business and economics; articles are indexed only.  Many of these journals, however, will be available in full text format from the E-Journals List.
  • EconLit * [1969 - Updated monthly]
    The American Economic Association's electronic bibliography. Indexes journals, books, dissertations, working papers and collective volumes.
  • Emerald Journal Database *
    Full-text journal articles on management and economics. This database can also be searched. Villanova subscribes to a portion of the journals offered full-text in Emerald.
  • Essay And General Literature Index * [1985 -]
    Indexes essays published in book collections covering philosophy, religion, social and political science, economics, law, education, linguistics, science, the various arts, literature and history.
  • European Patent Office (from EI Village) *
    This database provides a fulltext patent and mosaic image search of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), European Patent Office, and Patent Abstracts of Japan.
  • FactSearch * [1984 - Updated quarterly]
    A guide to facts and statistics on current social, economic, political, environmental and health issues.
  • Gartner Group Intraweb *
    An Information Technology (IT) advisory service that provides timely, widely-quoted, critical reports on the broad IT and computer industry.
  • Global Market Information Database (Euromonitor)*
    This resource is a database of demographic, economic, lifestyle, and consumer market information for over 350 markets and 207 countries. Statistics cover consumer lifestyles, retailing, and consumer market sizes and forecasts. The data includes 6-year historic market size data for more than 330 consumer products in 52 countries, plus 5-year forecasts. Lifestyle indicators for 71 countries, lifestyle reports for 65 countries, and country profiles for 250 countries are also included.

    Table of contents to more than 28,000 publications (6000 are full-text). Years of coverage vary with the journal, from 1988 to date. Includes publications in all major disciplines; especially strong in the sciences and social sciences. Online access to the journals to which Falvey Library subscribes is free. Register only if you want to set up a Table of Contents (TOC) alert or to save your searches.

  • Marquis Who's Who on the Web * [1985 - Updated daily]
    Searchable online database features comprehensive profiles on over 1 million of the most accomplished individuals in all fields of endeavor including: government, business, science & technology, the arts, entertainment and sports. The database accesses current biographies that appeared in any one of the many Marquis print titles searching by name, gender, occupation, geography, hobbies and interests, religion and much more.

  • Mergent Online *
    Provides research to 15 years of detailed financial statements for international and U.S. companies included in the Moody's (now Mergent) Manuals; enables customized viewing and output to retrieve company reports and financials into software applications such as Word, Excel or Adobe, and enables accurate cross-border searches using a variety of financial and text variables.
  • Morningstar Principia Plus *
    Provides performance and financial data on over 6,000 mutual funds.
  • National Trade Data Bank (NTDB) *
    Contains data related to international trade, particularly exports and is part of STAT_USA. The Export Connection is available as CD-ROM at reference desk.

    Sports Business Research Network provides sports marketing information: market size, and demographics; sports participation, licensing, financial and retail trends; international marketing and professional sports trends. It includes buyTRACK which tracks the sales of sporting goods purchases on the Internet. Some international coverage.

    Economic, business and international trade information produced by the U.S. Government.
  • Statistical (Lexis-Nexis) *
    Provides the index and abstracts to American Statistics Index (U.S. government statistical sources). Contains over 100,000 statistical publications and is searchable by subject, category, title and author.
  • US Patent And Trademark Office
    The US Patent and Trademark Office Trademark Database contains the full bibliographic text of pending and registered trademarks. Pending trademark applications are entered in the database several months after filing. Requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher.
  • Villanova's Online Career Library (powered by Vault)*
    The University's Career Services provides access Vault.com for career information on industry guides, career guides, occupational profiles, employer profiles, company profiles, company Q&As, company videos, industry overviews and a Career Resource Center for Students. Note: This Online Career Library is for the sole use of Villanova University undergraduate students, faculty and staff.
  • World Consumer Markets (CD-ROM; Ask at Reference Consultation Desk )
    This extensive database includes information on 52 countries and 376 product sectors ranging from 1994 to 1999. This data is of interest to demographers, economists and marketers. Charting, currency conversion and per capita data are all available.
  • WRDS *

    WRDS is available in the Applied Finance Lab during regular lab hours. Graduate students may request their own user name and password by clicking the WRDS link above. Undergraduates, or those needing immediate (faster) assistance should contact Dan Overfield at (610) 519-8129 for help.

    Covers over 30,000 companies and includes security prices and trading volume, income and balance sheet items. Provides access to IBES' analyst projections for earnings and sales. WRDS also contains stock market indices, bond prices and interest rates, mutual fund and stock ownership information, options data, and a wide array of macroeconomic time series. International data, marketing and industry reports, and web usage data are also available on WRDS.
